"Nah, nah, I'm not going to die of this poxy little thing," John dismissed even if his words were lacking conviction and getting somewhat slurred. It wasn't intentional but his jaw felt all funny. So did his chest. It tingled and burnt unpleasantly. His mind went back to that one bloke... or bird, he couldn't really tell genders well. All he remembered was that at one point, he was ninety percent certain then vomited up a lung. Or just a chunk of internal flesh or something. The thought made his stomach churn as he clutched the Doctor, trying to navigate a little better.
Falling asleep, that was his main thing to avoid. He just had to stay away, easy enough. As they came to the med bay, John steadied himself on the wall and leaned forward, coughing heavily as whatever was clogging up his chest fought to come out. Oh yeah, this hurt like a bitch. "I won't fall asleep. Scouts honour. And you can believe that, I really was a scout. Well, a Galaxy Scout," John admitted, looking at the Doctor with an awkward smile. His skin had become very pale now, sweat coming off him at an alarm rate in an attempt to fight off whatever was in him. "One thing I didn't get kicked out of."
