A lot of people liked to believe that he wasn't aware of what a horrible person he was. But he did know. It wasn't so much delusion when it came to do what he did, it was more a careless dismissal of the existence of his conscience. And sometimes it was hard to hear that little voice in the back of his head telling him off when the drums were pounding in his head. Really, morality was just too much effort.
Not that he was complaining for said ignorance. Because he didn't really care to feel bad for something things he found fun. Especially when they were with the Doctor.
See, the thing was that the Doctor had been determined to ignore him, all old and grumpy like that, and really? The appeal had soon died. He wanted his attention. Quite quickly. That's why he decided to take things down a different road. First thing was first, deaging the Doctor. Not without precautions, of course, he didn't need someone to fight him back. Handcuffs were exceptionally useful, don't ask why he has a fluffy pink pair, it was originally Lucy's idea.
Boy had that been a fun night!
The Master didn't bother explaining why he got the guard to drag the Doctor out of his little tent that morning to join the Master in his bedroom. Or why his ankles had been bound and dropped onto the bed while his lord and Master finished up his breakfast.
Now sadly, he didn't have a full fun set of things to play. No whips, no gags, none of that fancy stuff. But he did indeed have a pear. Which, fun story, could get quite far into the Doctor's mouth before his jaw looked like it would unhinge.
"I didn't fancy this for breakfast," the Master said in a conversational tone, sitting on the Doctor's chest while he tried to push the pear in a little further. "Bite down on it, there's a good boy."
It wasn't as if the Doctor was never afraid, never mind how many people idolized him and thought he was the bravest they'd ever met. He wasn't stupid and he knew that the Master was capable of making him suffer, even if or perhaps even especially because he knew he'd not kill him. So when he was deaged it was already cause for alarm and then being dragged by a guard even more so. The handcuffs did nothing to reassure him and he was rather regretting his choice of stubborn silence, because he had a lot of questions to ask and babbling always made him feel more in his element.
Instead he ended up bound on the Master's bed, fixing him with a look of thorough confusion and more insecurity than he'd want to admit. And then, without any explanation or further warning, the Master had started forcing a pear into his mouth and that had to be the worst thing he had ever done. Well, alright, there was the whole thing about... Alright, it really wasn't all that bad by comparison, but, gods, he hated pears.
Even if he hadn't hated the fruit so much, the force alone would have been enough to make him gag. He retched, eyes watering as he tried to force it back out with his tongue while doing his best to protest the mere idea of biting down on that thing. It wasn't very clear, but still more communication than he'd willingly granted the Master in quite some time.
The pear was pretty firmly lodged by the time the Master pulled back, a cruel smile on his ace as he sat back with a small amused smile on his face, proud of his handy work. Of the way the pear almost obscenely pulled his mouth wider, it was quite the sight. But he didn't think the Doctor was biting yet, his mouth didn't seem to be clenching so clearly he wasn't going to follow orders. Oh, what a shame. Wasn't like the Master would make the most of his denial to make things worse.
Oh wait, not, that was totally what he'd do.
"No? Not happy? Not gonna bite down?" the Master exhaled loudly, shuffling a little bit back so he could get a better look, playfully twisting the pear a little to see if that would entice him to take a big bite of the gross fruit. "You're going to make me make you, aren't you? Good man! I do love when you're in a sporting mood."
With a smirk, he patted the Doctor's cheek mockingly before sliding down, starting to unbutton the Doctor's shirt.
The Doctor tried to push the pear out, but that seemed to be quite impossible without using his hands or teeth and he was definitely not going to bite into the vile fruit, it was bad enough that he could already smell and taste it as it was. He wasn't going to bite into it as long as he could help it, at least. He almost gagged on the pear when the Master twisted it in his mouth, glaring at him in a way that would have been more effective if he hadn't been, well, gagged with a piece of fruit.
His eyes widened when the Master started to undo his shirt and he shook his head, making a small sound of denial. He had a few sound arguments at the ready, but they would have to wait until he could articulate them, which apparently wasn't any time soon. Wherever the Master was going with this, he was sure he wouldn't like it. Or worse, he might.
"What? Sorry? Did you say something?" the Master asked mockingly, taking a long pause to pretend to listen before shrugging and returning to what he was doing. He couldn't get the shirt fully off but he could push it over his shoulders, leaving his chest full exposed. A bright canvas he could play with. Smirking playfully, the Master trailed one finger along the Doctor's chest, playfully drawing his name in Gallifreyan with it.
Now, wouldn't that be nice? The Master thought it'd be nice.
"I think your chest would be a great place to practise my signature. Do you agree?" the Master asked, knowing full well that he wouldn't be able to protest. Slipping his hand into his inside pocket, he pulled out his laser screwdriver and started to fiddle with the settings. "Hmm, lightest setting? Just a gentle searing hit. What do you think? Come on, give me a signal. A sign even. Maybe a series of clever winks."
The Doctor rolled his eyes at the mockery, grunting while yanking at the handcuffs. It didn't really make a point and he had to swallow, because this damn pear was making him drool like mad, the way his mouth was forced open. However, when the Master's finger started to trail along his skin he stilled, his hearts beating loudly in his ear. He recognized the symbols written, even from this position, and it brought on memories of much nicer times.
Of course, the Master's end brought an end to that. He immediately struggled, almost biting down on the pear before he could stop himself at the last moment. The laser screwdriver had him still anyway, seeing how he had every reason to fear the device. He kept his eyes on it and shook his head, even knowing that it would do no good. He shook his head over and over, while trying to roll to the side.
The Master pressed his hand forcefully against the Doctor's chest to limit the struggles, trying to hold him still so he could return his control. Boy could the Doctor move when he wanted to. With an annoyed hiss, the Master raised his hand and smacked the Doctor's across the face. Not too hard, mind, didn't want to accidentally knock the pear out, did he? "Stay still, you flailing moron. Like I would actually do that now. Do you have any idea how much you losing consciousness would kill the mood? I think engraving my name is more a second date kind of thing."
Dropping back once more, the Master still held the screwdriver as an open threat, gently tapping it on the Doctor's chest as he had a little thought on what he wanted to do.
"Here's the deal, Doctor. You know me by now, I'm a fair man. So, if you don't want to signature on your chest, you're going to have to give me something else. Something more interesting," the screwdriver ran a trail down the Doctor's chest till, finally, it rested against the Doctor's zipper. "I'm bored, Lucy is off doing things. Amuse me. Or I'll burn all the skin off your chest then force that pear down your throat."
The slap did make him stop his struggle, because it hurt and because he had to give the Master an affronted look. It still caught him off-guard somehow, being treated like that. He did relax a little though, even if 'second date' didn't sound very promising. Swallowing again he watched the Master's face as if he could read his next move, definitely tensing up once more as the screwdriver ran down his body, his eyes widening when it rested by his crotch. not very reassuring.
Amuse him? How? It wasn't as if he could tell him a story. Gods, in this position he couldn't even flick him off. Not that he thought that very advisable. Maybe the Master could be persuaded to take the damn pear out of his mouth. He tried dislodging it with his tongue, mouth open wide enough that he actually managed to get it a few inches out, now he just had to spit it out all the way.
Before he could spit it out, the Master heaved an annoyed sigh and forced it in a little harder than was needed, forcing the Doctor's mouth open just that little bit more. Reaching into his upper pocket, he pulled out his handkerchief and moped up the excess droll with an amused expression. "Just bite into it, it'll help. Nice to have something to hope onto. Of course if you spit that out, I'll cut it into little segments and force feed it to you."
Then he paused, an even more cunning expression on his face because he'd just had a fantastic idea. Oh goodie, he could make this a game. "I think you need a little motivation. So, let me think. Do you know Shawn? The rather lovely man who refills your water bowl on the weekdays? If you spit that pear out at any time during this unless I say so then I will execute him. In front of you. And his family."
Grinning, he sat back a little further so he could start undoing the Doctor's trousers, completely proud of himself. Like the Doctor would ever cause someone's death. "And he has such a sweetie little daughter too."
Of course the Doctor knew Shawn. He was the sort of man to know everyone, even while he was in stone-faced silence. He even knew about his daughter and he'd stopped trying to force the pear back out the moment the Master mentioned the name, even before he had finished the threat. He just looked at the Master with disappointment in his eyes, feeling as if his hearts were breaking just that little bit more.
He tugged on the handcuffs once, then just stayed still, even as the Master actually undid his trousers. Back to ignoring him, although he had little hope of that working for long while he was in such a compromising position. At least he could show his disapproval a little bit by holding back as long as he could. Without endangering anyone, hopefully.
The Master paused, a frown on his face until finally he started to tug his tie loose, leaving it hanging around his neck like a scarf. Ready for use if he needed to. "If you keep looking at me like that, I'll blindfold you. Blind and mute. Would you want that? No way to convey yourself, only able to hear me mocking you."
With a loud and clearly annoyed sigh, he tugged the Doctor's trousers down to the ankles and the boxers soon followed. With an amused look on his face, he caught himself looking more than acting because well... here was the thing. Despite all of his ego and cockiness, he never actually thought he'd win. Nor that he'd have the Doctor at his mercy and almost completely naked.
It took him a moment to take it all in and as he did, he shuddered slightly, feeling himself getting a little harder. What a beautiful sight to have.
No, he wouldn't want that, which was why he turned his eyes up at the ceiling. Up at the ceiling, pretending to not be naked with the Master's mocking eyes on him. However, when instead of mockery there was silence for a long while, the Doctor did look back at the Master again and he immediately held his breath, his fingers clenching to fists.
The expression on the Master's face was like a gut punch, if a gut punch would also be an aphrodisiac. He swallowed and this time he barely minded the taste of the pear.
This was all wrong, but the fact that at least for this one moment he didn't mind it so much was even worse.
"I once though that the only thing in the universe I wanted," the Master started as he took the Doctor into his hands, gently running his hand along the shaft with great interest. "Was you. Just you."
But the little moment of calm didn't last long, it never did. The drums would flare up or something would upset him. In this case, it was the idea of how much he'd longed for something so simple that he couldn't even have that sparked more anger in him than fondness. Feeling as if something inside him could tear apart if he actually kept thinking instead of doing, the Master pushed all thoughts behind to give the Doctor a harder jerk, as if tugging him to attention.
"Oh well, you know how stupid kids are. There are better things than you," though the Master did smirk at him, leaning forward till he was hoovering over his face. "But you're quite the prize now, aren't you? I get to fuck the great destroyer of all of Gallifrey."
It was a command, not a question, not a debate, a very firm and very strict order. Because really? This wasn't something to contemplate, this was just insane. Months of silence. Months. He tried everything. He'd tried hitting him, yelling at him, mocking him, playing loud music in his face and even throwing food at him. No reaction, no words, just that annoying old man glare of his. Grumpy and bitter. To say it was boring was an understatement.
That's why he decided to try a different tactic. First was to deage the Doctor so he could be certain it was definitely the silent treatment and not 'he's too old to speak'. And secondly, he refilled that dog bowl by his tent because the water had flies and dust floating in it. See, wasn't he being nice?
"You're going to have to talk to me sooner or later. Do you really want to drag this out?"
Then, with an annoyed sigh, the Master looked down at the Doctor with a deep frown his face, nudging the silent Doctor with his foot like one might to a dog they were trying to get attention from. "I can make you talk to me."
Of course the deaging had left him exhausted, his arms trembling a little as he leaned back on them to sit up. The Doctor wasn't sure what to make of it and he knew better than to be grateful, even if it felt good to have a body with youthful strength again. He looked at the Master, but even though his face was so much younger, the silence was the same and the look in his eyes wasn't different either.
He wouldn't talk. Somewhere out there was Martha and the success of their plan depended on the Doctor keeping the Master out. Not talking was one of the ways to make sure he stayed closed off. Besides, it didn't feel as if he had much to say and he certainly didn't want to give in to the Master.
"Really? No? Nothing?" There was a sigh as the Master crouched down, biting his lower lip as he debated what to do. Then, finally, he reached out and gripped the Doctor's hair tight in his hands, trying to get so much as a noise of pain out of him. "Come on, crack a smile! Say something! It's going to be very boring for us both if you keep ignoring me."
Then, stubbornly, he yanked the Doctor up by his hair, wanting him to move or act. To do something other than sit there glaring at him. Did the Doctor not get how bored he was? "Speak to me and say something or someone is going to suffer."
The Doctor lowered his head at that first yank to his hair, pressing his lips together hard to keep from making a sound. It hurt like hell and he had to resist the urge to reach up and push the Master's hand away. Instead he got to his feet when the Master yanked him up, although he had to stay a little hunched over. After all, he was taller.
Someone suffering. What else was new? Silently he looked at the Master, as always.
"Oh come on, try to look like you give a damn. These are you're favourite race. Or did you turn off them when you saw their future?" the Master asked cruelly, still dragging the Doctor along through the control room and out to the life, pushing passed his guards as he threw the Doctor inside and came in after him, pressing for the lower levels. A faint little tinny song came on over the speakers and the Master huffed in annoyance.
He really did need to change that. It had been funny at first but now it was annoying. "Let's take a field trip to the basement, shall we? I'm sure I can find motivation down there."
They were alone in an elevator. The Doctor held on to the wall with one hand, looking at the Master with that same look, although right then it hid the thought of stopping the lift and talking to him, talking until he let go of all of this. But he wasn't quite naive enough to have any hope of that happening, so he just stayed where he was and dreaded whatever horrid plan the Master might have. He did have an idea of what, well, who was held in the basement, more than just an idea, really.
Once the hit the ground floor, the Master grabbed the Doctor by his arm, shoving him along before he didn't quite trust him to walk by himself. He kept forgetting that the Doctor was young and, you know, not a doddery old man who kept falling over. Which was pretty funny but also slowed them down quite a bit. Youth had it all over old age, that much was obvious.
"Want to guess who's down here? Maybe discuss it with me?" the Master asked, still trying to get a reaction. He wouldn't try until he had one. As they moved through the steam and passed the engineers, the Master paused and shoved the Doctor further in. "Come on, guess who it is and I won't hurt them."
So simple. But the Doctor knew it never could be and so he just stumbled in the direction the Master shoved him and stayed there, one hand sliding into his pocket and, hidden there, tightening to a fist. This was going to be very difficult. He didn't feel ready for this and he wondered if reality could be worse than his imagination.
He stayed silent, turned to face the Master, although for now he looked past him.
With a sigh, the Master kept moving until, finally, he reached the room he wanted to be in. Pushing the door open, he held it for the Doctor and gestured for him to go through. "You're going to regret not guessing. Oh yes and whatever you do, no touching. If you touch, I will blew up one country of my random choosing. And I doubt you'd want that, would you?"
As they moved further in, the Master took the lead over the Doctor, grinning as he slid playfully into the middle of the room, grinning at his prisoner.
Over the last several months, Jack had grown quite accustomed to the sound of the lift in the distance. The Master always liked to make sure to let Jack know that he was coming. Sometimes he would take his sweet time and talk with the engineers, just to keep Jack waiting and anxious.
When he heard the door unlatch, he lifted his eyes to it and narrowed them when the Master made a familiar entrance. Jack rested against the wall, wrists chained to the wall. It was never a good thing when the Master showed up.
"What do you want?" Jack sounded tired and fed up, though there wasn't much he could do about whatever it was that was going to happen to him next.
Well. At least he would have guessed right. The Doctor swallowed past the sudden tightness in his chest and he drove his nails into his palm, still hidden in his pocket. His expression was guarded when he finally followed behind the Master. He hated the way Jack's voice sounded, so tired. So unlike him.
He looked at him, knowing the Master would be watching, so his face gave little away. His hearts hurt, but he could keep that hidden. It would be better in the long run.
His eyes flickered to the ground. Blood stains, just like on his clothes. Blood and who knew what else. He had no doubt that the Master would be ever so creative in this. What he really wanted to do was apologize. He hoped Jack knew. For all the good it didn't do, he hoped Jack knew how sorry he was.
"To say hello mostly. Bring a friend along with me," the Master remarked as he gestured to the Doctor, who looked about as heartbroken as he wanted. All his response to that was just a dismissive shrug, quirking a half smile as he pulled out his screwdriver. Just in case any of them wanted to be clever or rude, he was ready to punish them.
Moving forward to where Jack was, he reached out to tap his screwdriver on Jack's chest playfully. "So here's the thing, freak. The Doctor has been ignoring me for ages so I'm going to make him talk to me. I could torture him but he'd just stubbornly resist while weeping silently like the weakling he is. No, the best way to hit his hearts is to hurt someone else."
Oh how well he knew the Doctor. Quick to sacrifice himself, less fun and never as amusing as he wanted. Turning to the Doctor, he took several steps from Jack, looking awfully cocky. "If you want me to stop at any time, say my name. As easy as that."
Terrible awful things that should probably have warnings
A lot of people liked to believe that he wasn't aware of what a horrible person he was. But he did know. It wasn't so much delusion when it came to do what he did, it was more a careless dismissal of the existence of his conscience. And sometimes it was hard to hear that little voice in the back of his head telling him off when the drums were pounding in his head. Really, morality was just too much effort.

Let's have a conversation!
It was a command, not a question, not a debate, a very firm and very strict order. Because really? This wasn't something to contemplate, this was just insane. Months of silence. Months.
