The Doctor had spotted the key to the handcuffs on the nightstand before, but he reached for his sonic screwdriver instead, using it to free Jack, first on one side, then the other. He slid the sonic back into his inside pocket and wished he knew him just a little less well, just so he could believe that grin. A great effort it was, but not quite what it should be.

"Oh, I'll believe that. But I always love to hear a good Jack Harkness story, whether told by you or about you." He hesitated, thinking that he should just leave and knowing that he shouldn't. Damn, sometimes two hearts really didn't make things easier. Talk about feeling torn. He pointed at the tie around his head.
