Jack shot John a look. No, of course he wasn't going to let John do any of that. He'd have too much fun doing it, and Jack certainly couldn't have that. He lifted a hand to wipe the blood from his lip. His mouth had already mostly healed, so he wasn't sure if the bite was from the fight or from John. Honestly, he kind of liked the mystery. He just hoped that John wouldn't slip out while they were out doing... whatever it was that the Doctor needed him to do. What an awful end to a date that would be.

When the Doctor placed his hand on Jack's shoulder, he sighed, already feeling the weight of defeat and being pulled into something he'd rather not be doing. "You said it's to save lives, right?" Of course, playing to Jack's love of heroics. That really should have been classified as some kind of weapon. "Sure. Could be fun." He put on one of his signature smiles and plucked the Doctor's hand from his shoulder, kissing his knuckles. "And maybe afterward you and I can catch up..?"

"Wait? Hold up. I don't even get to come?" Seriously? He was cockblocked by the ex-boyfriend Jack was clearly all into still and then denied a trip? How was that fair? "Oh come on, I'm not even armed and you broke my bloody wrist strap. Come on, I'll be good. I'll just be there to cheer Jack on. I'm good at that, I am."

It's said with a lot of sarcasm but if he had to, he could. If it meant stretching his legs and going somewhere.

God, he couldn't even put into words how much he hated this rude twig of a person, ruining his kit and stealing his date. What an awful combination. "How come if I turned up and asked you to come die in some mission, you'd tell me to fuck off. But it's okay for him to do it? Double standards, Jack."

"You can lose people you care about by making the right decisions or the best decisions. You can't control people, there's always a chance they'll leave you," John pointed out because he knew from experience, men wiser and less chaotic than him had made all the right decisions and ended up dead. And then there was him, who rightly should of been dead by now given all he'd done, still standing proudly and happily.

"Look, you want to be happy here with your little team of power rangers then that's your thing but don't think I have to give a shit about it," If anything he didn't care right now, he just wanted to go and do some damage control. See if he can't save his last job still with the images he had found. With an amused look, John couldn't help but beam at Jack, raising both his eyebrows suggestively. "Are you suggesting you want to give me drugs? I think my probation officer would greatly disapprove."

Jack too smiled with the Doctor teasing him like that and even laughed a little. When the Doctor pulled away, Jack crossed back over to John with an apologetic look. He knew that the Doctor could be a little rude sometimes, but still, no one really needed to hear that. "Well whenever you would do it, it was usually to rob someone, or pull a hit on someone. Not my kind of game anymore, John. You know that. Remember? You call me boring for a reason. Besides, you know I love playing a hero. Appeal to my ego next time."

He gave john a kiss, a wink, and a slap on the bum by way of apology, a silent promise to wreck it later. He then turned back to the Doctor, leaning back against a piece of railing to relax for the trip. "So hopefully it shouldn't take too long?"

"Nothing too bad. Just something to maybe help you sleep if you need it. I don't run a drug den here." Jack ran a hand through his hair, chewing the inside of his lip while he thought. He hated how right John was, but he had to know that Jack was right too in his way. Two opposing ideals. That had really been what tore them apart in the first place when it came down to it. Jack would always say that John took it too far, but he knew it was really because he was just getting tired of it. The Doctor had given him an out, and he took it.

"It would be nice if you joined up but... I know that the universe is too big for you to be anchored down. I feel that pull sometimes, too, and in a way, I guess I'm a little jealous that you get to go out and see everything. And no, that's not an invitation for you to whisk me away from everything and take me on a romantic and hedonistic trip through the stars. This isn't a romance novel." He laughed a little. "I know what I'm missing and I'm not sorry I gave it up. You're perfectly able to do as you like, but you know that it comes at a price, and I just don't want you to suffer."

"I don't need much sleep," John dismissed because while he as caged up down here, he had zero intention to sleep. Hey, he'd suffered tortures that made him stay awake for days on end, he could last until Jack let him go. Eventually he would, he very much doubted Jack had that kind of sticking power when it came to punishing John. "I'd be more interested if you did run a drug den. I'd join up for that, you know? Be a nice retirement."

He'd never be able to stay put and work with Jack, it just wouldn't work for either of them. John would get bored. And violent. And in the end, someone would pay. And that just wasn't fair to anyone. "I wouldn't take you a date anyway, you haven't earned on. Unless this locking me up stuff is a very drawn out and exciting game leading up to some very kink jail cell sex then as far as I'm concerned, you can just go fuck yourself." He didn't say that to hurt him, he just said it because it was an honest thing to say. And Jack liked all that honest bullshit now, didn't he? "I'm suffering now, you know? Of boredom. Worse than pain."

Woah, yeah, thanks Jack. Really him made him feel better about this. "Great, I get to be the stay at home wife while you two go save the day. Assholes." Rolling his eyes, Johngripped onto the rails, looking very much like he was intent on sulking. Really, he wasn't. He was already calculating his best escape plan. There was no chance in hell he was staying inside.

Nah, he was a little busy studying how the Doctor was piloting. Getting to know what was needed for what the best he could.

"Even if I did run a drug den, I wouldn't let you join up. You'd just use up all the product, and then what would I sell? Besides, you're a mess when you're high." Jack let his head loll against the glass. Why did he have to be so stubborn? Jack would happily let him out if he could trust him not to run or hurt someone. Still... he was injured. How far could he run like that?

"Oh, don't be so dramatic. If you go back to jail, I guarantee it'll be worse than this, but with more beatings and sexual assault. You've got nice lips. I imagine they could be put to good use." Jack knew from experience just how good that mouth could be. Still, it wasn't something he wished on anyone. "Someone like you should be locked up for a long, long time."

"I wouldn't know, I'm too happy to give a fuck when I'm high. You never used to complain. I'd get a bit high, we'd fuck till I saw stars and you always seemed pretty content afterwards, John challenged because everything Jack complained about, he had seemed to like once. Was it just him or did Jack really change that much? Or was everything fun they did just a lie? It was hard to really know.

Personally he hoped not. "You don't want me to suffer but you're going to hand me over to a jail where I'll beaten and assaulted? Do you hear yourself talk?" John asked with a disbelieving expression, limping over to the glass. Maybe running away wasn't entirely possible unless he killed Jack and stashed his body to give himself a head start. "I'm doing a job. It's not a pretty job but someone's gotta do it."

"No, John. No one has to do those things. Certainly not you." Jack folded his arms, as if that could offer any kind of defence against the truth of John's words. So he was a hypocrite, but John had hurt a lot of people... Always conflicted. He had liked John once, and the more time Jack spent away from him, the more he wondered why.

"The jury's still out on whether or not I'll actually turn you over. I'm thinking about it. I should, but I know what the dangers are. To both alternatives. Maybe I'm just waiting until you get better... won't do you much good to be out there without healing up first, will it? I mean, you could tear something, get it infected, and then where would you be?"

"Suffering? Like you want but you don't want because you're horrible inconsistent," John pointed out as he shook his head, leaning his arms on the glass and resting his head against them. "Look, lock me up if you want to. But it's really a waste of both our times cause I'll get out. I always get out. Even the best men I've ever met have tried and it's never stuck. The longest I was ever in for was about six months and that's just because I was on a job to kill one of the more prolific prisoners."

Which he did. After he was violently fucked by him. Several times. In a few different positions. Oh what a sentence that had been. Shame he had to die too, it was a waste of great talent. "Why don't just let me out? I can't run off, we've got handcuffs and plenty of time before your gang turns up. Let's get creative instead."

Jack took a moment to check the time on his vortex manipulator.. It was still very late, and he knew he could call everyone in at a moment's notice if he really needed to, but John was just one injured man. Jack could handle him. "Handcuffs... like those ones you just broke out of?" He did have a set of magnetic manacles upstairs but he really didn't feel like breaking his rule about tech just for a bit of fun. "See, if I let you out, then you'll take my gun, shoot me, and run off before I can wake up. What in the world makes you think that I'm going to trust you? And especially after all of the nasty things you said tonight." He shook his head and tutted John. "Shame you couldn't be nicer."

"Well to be fair, we hadn't done anything yet except have a bit of a tussle." And maybe kiss and bite one another between bouts of feeling one another up. Jack didn't want John to feel left out, but having him out and about on an alien planet might not have been the best of ideas. Still...

He looked over to the Doctor and smiled. "We could always use an extra set of hands. I can't think of a time where it wouldn't be useful. Unless you don't want him along. You're not jealous, are you, Doctor?"

"You're a real ball breaker tonight, aren't you?"

With a bored look plain and clear on his face, John heaved a sigh and moved away from the glass. Because hell, Jack was right. He'd do that in a heartbeat. Sliding back down the wall, John returned to fiddling with his screwdriver, looking on the verge of pouting because he really didn't like being grounded against his will. It was boring and he had a long night of nothingness. "Piss off then. If I'm here all night, I'm not playing cat and mouse with you."

And, with that, he turned Katy Perry on once more, loud enough that hopefully he'd drown the sound of Jack out.

"Course he's jealous, have you met me? Everyone's jealous," John mocked because he couldn't help himself. His go to response was arrogance and while that often shot him in the foot, he doubted he'd be able to come and out play anyway. The Doctor didn't trust him because, well, he was a prick. A total prick. And John wanted to shoot his kneecaps off.

That was probably why he didn't trust him.

"I'm always useful, you know? I can help. I can even be good. And like I said, unarmed. See, I'm harmless. Harmless as a boy scout."

Jack rolled his eyes as John sat back down and started petulantly playing that music. This was about as 'pouty teenager' as John could get before people started getting hurt. And God that music was loud. The acoustics off the cement really weren't helping it not bore into his brain. Finally, Jack rolled his eyes and against his better judgement, grabbed his coat and circled round to the door of the cell, standing back against the wall and unlocking it with his vortex manipulator. Mostly, he just wanted to see what he'd do if given the chance.

Jack didn't expect miracles, but at least this way it would be more interesting than listening to him pout all night. "Well? You coming out or not?" He asked, already growing impatient.

Jack blinked. he hadn't expected the Doctor to get so nasty, but there it was. Maybe he was just stressed about the situation. Still, he made his position quite clear and Jack was nothing if not a good soldier. He saluted. "Yes sir. Good to go."

To be honest, he didn't trust John much either, but that had been the entirety of their relationship, pretty much. He gave John another apologetic look and a shoulder shrug. What could he do? His hands were tied in a way. Though not in the fun way. That would have to come later.

The music turned off and John looked up, unsure if he was being tested or not. It was completely confusing. One moment there was no leaving, now there was. John didn't hurry to stand up, mostly because he couldn't. He sort of shoved himself up, gripping onto the wall and he tried to walk without his foot touching the ground. Very complicated, not quite as classy as he'd liked but boy was he hobbling to that door.

"I'm coming, I'm coming. Don't bully the cripple," John complained as he finally slipped out of the cell, eyes immediately on where Jack's guns should be. Yet funnily enough, he didn't go for them. Instead, he just waited to see what Jack had planned. "Go on then, tell me. What's the catch?"

Dear God, what a total prat. Saluting his ex. Awful to watch, awful to know. Rolling his eyes, John slumped over the rails, knowing this would happen. He knew he wasn't going anywhere with the Doctor. He'd just have to go alone, that was pretty much that. "Fine, whatever, piss off. I'll just be here, bored." Then, with a dismissive wave, John turned away to look at his wrist strap, pretending to be interested in everything but those two.

Jack had seen where John's gaze moved to immediately, and Jack moved his hand to place it on his gun. No, John, you weren't getting it that easily. "I know I can't trust you. You're the least trustworthy guy in the universe and I know this is probably the worst idea I've had in a long, long time. But you were right. I don't want you to suffer. I'm not letting you out for good... But it'll be harder to heal if you can't walk around, too. Besides, I did promise you something for that, didn't I? I'm not much of a liar anymore."

Jack seemed a little more on edge when he pushed from the wall. "Just... know that if you fuck up... if you really mess this up, that I will have no qualms against calling the authorities and having your arse carted off and I won't give it a second thought. Do you understand? Against my better judgement, I am trusting you. Don't let me down."

"You're trusting me? That's pretty stupid," John just felt like pointing out because it was. It seriously was. And even John had a feeling he was going to mess it up and he really didn't have the energy to get into a fight right now. For all his cockiness, his leg did seriously hurt like hell and he kind of wanted to get very drunk and pass out somewhere. Yes, that sounded lovely.

"I'm probably going to let you down. But on the rare chance I don't, I think you owe me something. It's very hard to be responsible like that, you know? All my effort. I better get some strong drugs. And maybe a bottle of whiskey," What, he was bargaining. Took a lot for Captain John Hart to behave himself, he needed better motivation than a potential arrest.
